Apartment Hunting + Bad Weather Conditions

Hey, I am back from my Christmas Break! I hope you all had a great Christmas as well! I was out apartment hunting yesterday and despite the rainy weather conditions. I wanted to take photos of my outfit. So the shoot was a bit rushed and sloppy and I am not quite happy with the results, but I really wanted to share this ensemble. I can't believe 2014 is coming to an end. It was a hard year for me, so I am looking forward to 2015 being even better.

P.S. the office Christmas party was as dreadful as I expected but I survived it. Thanks for all the best wishes though, I love reading your comments. It fills me with so much joy! :)

Mandatory Office Christmas Party.

Tomorrow my office is throwing a mandatory Christmas party, which means we all have to be there! What!?! This party will occur the last hour of work; before everyone goes home. So this means we are all trapped and can't get out of it no matter how hard we try. My fellow co-workers have already given me the heads up about this dreadful party that takes place ever year. It is three things:

1. ridiculously long
2. boring
3. super awkward

So basically the party resembles the lame Christmas party thrown on the hit t.v. show, The Office. Except the joke will be on us and it wont be funny, I hope I can make it through. Plus, the day before Christmas Eve we just want to go home and be with our families. So I am not looking forward to this "Mandatory Christmas Speculator Extravaganza" at all. :(

Hope its not as bad as I think. Wish me luck guys!!

Were they fun or were they dreadful?

Have a lovely 3 more days till Christmas!!

Bringing in the New Year + New Look

I am no longer putting relaxers in my hair and I am going back to my natural hair! For those who know knowing about African American hair, and/or have no clue what a relaxer is I will tell you. A relaxer is a cream that makes naturally curly hair straight and easier to straighten/manage. It reduces the natural curls of the hair by breaking down the hair strand and ultimately altering the texture. A relaxer allows a person to have semi-permanent straight hair without any frizz. "Semi-permanent" meaning you have to frequently apply more chemical relaxer to the roots. It depends on the person but usually for about 6 to 8 weeks, it is time to apply the relaxer again to maintain the straight look.

So without boring you guys to death with a detailed synopsis of what a relaxer is I'll stop her. I have been getting my hair relaxed since I was in Elementary school. Just recently I have noticed that applying this strong chemical to my hair every eight weeks is damaging it. So now I am longer putting that stuff in my hair. It has been three months so far, and though it is liberating it is also challenging. There are some days I love it and there are other days I hate it.  Sometimes I just want to give in and start relaxing my hair again. Then I quickly remind myself of why I am doing this and get back on track.

I am starting off the new year with a new look and hopefully a new and improved me. Confident to flaunt the hair that God gave me!!

Cold Weather + Holiday Wear

Today I'm wearing a pretty plaid dress. The beautiful red and blue fabric, adorable peter pan collar make a perfect dress for the holiday season. It was pretty chilly today so I had to take as many photos as I could before I had to sprint to my car and blast the heat for a few seconds and then take a few more. Despite the frigid weather conditions, I think this shoot turned out pretty well!

Chambray Dress + Fall to Winter

During these colder days all I can think about when shopping is warm weather clothes; knit sweaters, thermal tights, and jumper dresses.... So bring it on winter, I love to find new and creative ways to restyle my favorite summer pieces. This chambray dress from Oasap is a perfect dress to transition from fall to winter, especially where I live because an average winter day is in the 40s and 50s. I paired this lovely dress with a salmon collegiate-inspired cardigan.

I have been listening to a lot of Christmas music! My favorite Christmas song is "Baby it's Cold Outside." I am curious, what is your favorite Christmas song?

Sister Style + Homage to Summer

Today I am going to post leftover posts from the summer! Sometimes I take so many rounds of photos I forget about them or not like the finished edit. So I will post photos from another shoot instead. These photos were put on the back burner and ultimately forgotten. These photos feature my lovely sister and her groovy style. There are many things my sister and I have in common and one of them is our love for The Beatles.  My sister made this simple graphic tee look romantic by pairing it with this plaid mini skirt. I am a sucker for plaid so I had to feature this outfit on my blog, its too cute to not share.

Not quite a winter wonderland.

So this week was like... really crazy for me. I have moved several times as a kid to different cities, states, and countries. But I never had to do the planning, due to the fact that I was a kid and my parents took care of it. Now that my sister and I are moving to a different state as adults. I am being faced with all the things you have to do in preparation for an out-of state move. With that note, I am feeling a little overwhelmed and stressed at the moment. I am less than two months away from moving to California and there is still so much to do.

Plus, I haven't even began Christmas shopping! Ahhh! Can this month get any crazier!?! I can't believe we are 19 days away from Christmas!
