My Spring Bucket List

1. Go on a weekend trip: Even if you don't have the opportunity to take a full week off for vacation. Make the most of your free weekends by visiting a new city. Start now by putting money away so that you can splurge and have fun on a weekend getaway. Go to a museum, to a nice restaurant and have dinner, or see a show. Have fun, relax, and bring a friend along for the ride.
2. Enjoy the outdoors: Take advantage of the improving weather conditions and sit out on a balcony or a patio and read a book. Grab a friend or two and sit outside at your favorite restaurant or cafe. Or grab a blanket and a basket filled with yummies and go on a picnic with some besties or a special someone. (ohh la la!)
3. Try a new recipe: Find a recipe via Internet or cookbook and prepare it. (I tend to look for the quick and easy recipes). Impress your friends by preparing a new meal and inviting them over for a dinner party. Maybe even prepare the meal once before you have the dinner party to see if you even like the recipe and can prepare it well. Just to prevent things from going wrong the night of.
4. Find a new hobby: If there is something that has been on your "one day I want to learn to do.... such-n-such" list, but for some reason you have never done it. Make it a priority and give it a try this season. Learn to sew, join a book club, start scrapbooking, or learn a new song on that guitar you bought months ago sitting in the corner of your room collecting dust.
5. Experiment with your wardrobe: If you are someone like me that tends to gravitate toward neutral tone clothing then I suggest that you take a dive into some brighter tones. Even if you have to take baby steps, just do it. If you are the type of person who tends to shy away from patterns and bold prints then I suggest this season that you make a bold move and start adding patterns to your wardrobe. Liven up your closet with new pieces and give your personal style a face-lift! :)

Whatever you do make the most of the spring and enjoy ever moment of it!
Happy Monday!

A Year Reflection

The recent season change has made me reflect on how this year is going so far and how much my life has changed since last year. I did not enter this New Year with resolutions or goals for the year like some people tend to do. Mainly, because I knew I would break them and not fully commit. But I did have a guideline or a vision for how I would approach this year. So far I have already been living up to it. I am so excited for the things that are happening that I am aware of such as graduation, and starting my career path. I also have plans to travel, experience different cultures, be fluent in French, and move to a different state (preferably where its warmer, since I am always cold). I am so excited to see what this year has in store for me!

Polka Dot Frenzy

My absolute favorite pattern is the polka dot pattern, it is a classic pattern that looks flattering on everyone. You can never go wrong with a polka dot piece of clothing. I love polka dots so much, I guess you could say I am obsessed. I believe that people around me can vouch that I wear a lot of polka dotted dresses and skirts. I can't help it! My polka dot obsession lately encouraged me to look up the history of the infamous polka dot pattern. I read that the polka dot pattern was named after the polka dance because it became famous around the same time the polka dance was receiving increased attention. I read that polka dot dresses were traditionally associated with flamenco dancers. I also read that in 2006, polka dot skirts, dresses, scarves, and tops became a fad in the United Kingdom. Polka dots generally appear on playful attire such as bathing suits, and are seen on children's clothing, toys, and furniture. Maybe thats why I like polka dots so much since my style tends to be playful and childlike. Alright, enough about polka dots. I think I have obsessed about them long enough. One Month Birthday!

I have made it through my first full month of blogging. This may not be a big deal to some people but it is a big deal to me. I have dreamed of starting my own blog for years but I never did because I was too scared. My first two years of college I spent countless hours reading personal style, fashion and lifestyle blogs written by veteran bloggers. I would desire to start my own but I never had the guts to do it until this year. At the beginning of this year I just decided to put on my big girl pants and do it. (or big girl skirt since I basically wear skirts and dresses everyday... ha ha)

So far it has been a month of blogging and I love it! It is so much fun and I have had lots of support, which has encouraged me to continue. To be honest blogging has been getting me into trouble when it comes to my studying habits. I much rather plan and work on my next blog post than study for my next exam. Oops!  Well at least I only have one month of college left and then I am done forever!  Woo hoo!

Also thank you to anyone who has been following my blog!
I really appreciate it!

Pattern on Pattern

I am not an out going person so I rely on my style to show a little bit of my personality. I love being able to express who I am through my style. I love picking two widely different patterns, styling them together, and making them work. I guess I like how whimsical and fun it looks when you mix patterns. I absolutely love this overall dress and I am planning on get a few more this season. I would have to say that dresses are my all time favorite clothing piece. I feel like they are so comfortable and versatile. If I am not feeling my best and don't know what to wear. I can throw on a dress and immediately have a look pulled together for the day.

How to style: A parka

My sister and I were hanging out a couple of days ago and decided to take a few outfit shots. My sister has a really neat style and I want to feature her on my blog too. My sister is also big on finding quality clothing pieces for a deal! This parka that she is wearing was on Ebay, and this is one on the ways she styles a parka. I am also really excited because my sister just got hired for a really cool marketing internship. I am so proud of her and we are going to celebrate this weekend by going on a sister date!

Dear Creatures Spring 2014 Collection

One of my favorite designer brand labels, Dear Creatures, created by Bianca and Rob Sinclair’s spring collection is inspiring. The awesome husband and wife duo, joined forces to create yet another fun and flirty collection for the spring, titled Life of Leisure. Last season the spring collection incorporated a neutral toned color palette. This season the colors are dark blues and greens, and vibrant yellows, oranges, and reds. I really like the entire collection but my favorites are the Celine Dress and the Christine Dress. I would definitely buy them in a heartbeat if I could afford it at the retail price, but maybe I can buy it off-season and find it for 50% off. I am all about snagging a good deal! For the time being I’ll just admire them.

Not Quite Spring...

I'm so ready for spring. I might be a little biased to say that spring is my favorite month, since I was born in this season. I think one of the things I look forward to is warmer weather and spring clothing. The season that makes wearing bright colors, whimsical patterns, and floral prints appropriate.  I also love relaxing outside in the sun and enjoying a great book. Oh! I also love the rainy days too. There is nothing that makes me more excited than being snuggled up under my favorite blanket and watching movies when it's raining. Spring tends to bring a sense of hope, excitement and a new outlook on things. I am not trying to rush the season, but I am so ready for it to officially be spring!

"Always like this"

Bombay Bicycle Club is an English indie rock band from Crouch End, London. The band members Jack Steadman (vocals, guitar, piano), Jamie MacColl (guitar) Suren de Saram (drums), and Ed Nash (bass). These guys are super talented and have experimented with different genres, including folk, electronica, world music, and indie rock which can be seen throughout their four albums. Bombay Bicycle Club's latest album was released February 3, 2014! Its a lovely listen and you should check it out!

If you are unfamiliar with Bombay Bicycle Club I would suggest that you start with their song "Always Like This." This is probably one of my favorite Bombay Bicycle Club songs mainly because its a great song and it has some sentimental value. This is the first song that got me hooked to this band. I have to say Bombay Bicycle Club is one of my favorite bands, even though I have a lot of favorites, they will always have a special place in my heart.
So what are you waiting for, check them out!

Check out the official videos "Always Like This" and "Carry Me"(from the latest album)

i am really excited because i get to see them play in Nashville!
happy listen!
