Outfit // Photo Diary

I am challenging myself to take more photos, other than outfit photos that I use for the blog.  I am realizing that life moves quickly and it is so important to take pictures of moments that will never happen again. At least you'll have a picture to capture that moment. A memory is not enough to stand alone sometimes. So I challenge you guys to take more photos as well. Life is short and sometimes having a visual to help you remember a special moment is priceless.

Springtime Poetry // Sylvia Plath

Mad Girl's Love Song
By: Sylvia Plath

"I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead;
I lift my lids and all is born again.
(I think I made you up inside my head.)

The stars go waltzing out in blue and red,
And arbitrary blackness gallops in:
I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead.

I dread that you bewitched me into bed
And sung me moon-struck, kissed me quite insane.
(I think I made you up inside my head.)

God topples from the sky; hell's fires fade:
Exit seraphim and Satan's men:
I shut my eyes and the world drops dead.

I fancied you'd return the way you said,
But I grow old and I forget your name.
(I think I made you up inside my head.)

I should have love a thunderbird instead;
At least when spring comes they roar back again.
I shut my eyes and the world drops dead.
(I think I made you up inside my head.)"

Have a great Tuesday, lovelies!

Outfit // Resonance

Do you ever have those moments where someone says a line that sticks with you for a few days. "How much is your life worth..." is the statement that has been resonating in my head. I had to attend a conference for my job this week and our last speaker told an entire story with this premise. To make a long story short, the speaker told us a profound story where he was faced with a near death experience. The speaker expressed that a man held him at gun point and asked this very question, before deciding whether or not he would kill him. Something about the speaker's story and the statement forced me to think about my own life. Sometimes I put so much worth into things that really don't have much value such as clothing, money, camera equipment, etc. Things that if I died today would be left here... objects that will eventually tear, spoil, wilt away in some way or another. Why is it that we as people tend to put so much worth into things. I wonder what I would say if someone asked me that very same question...

Urban Outfitters + American Apparel Shopping Day

American Apparel

Urban Outfitters

My sister and I have been obsessed with American Apparel and Urban Outfitters lately. I had to post a few pictures of our latest visit to both shops. You probably know by now that I am a sucker for natural lighting so I absolutely loved the construction and the way these two stores were decorated. They both had huge windows that allowed the sun to shine throughout every corner of the building.

Im still learning to use my dslr camera, so if you have any tips for me I would to hear them!

Have a great Thursday, lovelies!

Outfit // Quarter Life Crisis

Last month I had my 26th birthday! I was going to do a birthday post on the blog, but for some reason I wasn't feeling very festive. I am constantly feeling unmotivated and unsatisfied with how my life is going. Lately I have been comparing myself to others and their accomplishments. I consider that I am not moving forward or unsuccessful at being an adult because I have not gotten married or had children yet. Even though the thought of having children actually scares me to death, the fear that I will never meet someone and procreate scares me just as much. I feel like my life is stunted and lacks excitement. I find my self dreaming of what I think my life should be like by now. When I took the time to asses my symptoms I realized I am experiencing what some people peg as Quarter Life Crisis. What is helping me through this phase is keeping my spirits up and realizing that everyone's life is different. There is not a specific age at which an individual is supposed to achieve certain things, and I can't compare myself to others. I should be comfortable with how my life is going right now and enjoy it to the fullest. Focus my attention on more life changing things such as leaving a positive impact on someone else's life versus personal issues that are menial to begin with.

Outfit // Miss Frizz

There is nothing more frustrating than frizzy hair. I know that when you have curly hair frizz is inevitable, but sometimes it would be nice if you could completely avoid the frizz. Especially when the humidity level is reaching its highest, which has been the case all week. Now that I am embracing my curls and no longer straightening my hair with heat and/or chemicals, hats are my best friends. I bought this straw hat at Urban Outfitters on my random road trip to Memphis a few weeks back. Oh... also I just received my second Rocksbox set and received this adorable Pave Triangle necklace! I'm obsessed. Click here to see the post I wrote about Rocksbox...
