Outfit // Blueberry

You guys I don't think I'll ever get tired of the color blue. I just love wearing it, who cares if 90 percent of the items in my wardrobe is blue. I was nicknamed blueberry in 4th grade due to my obsession of the color blue. I guess I can proudly say that I still live up to that name. I generally dress really feminine, but today I decided to let my inner tomboy out by pairing this dress with a masculine chambray top. I layered this chambray top as a jacket and added a belt to the dress to create an obvious waistline. This dress is a bit too big in some areas but I have learned how to improvise and make my outfits fit my petite frame. One of these days, I would love to be able to make my own alterations to garments.

Outfit // Improvise

It's definitely thunderstorm season. Last weekend I wanted to take a few outfit shots outside and was quickly forced to change my plans due to the rain. Don't get me wrong!! I love rainy days but its just not the best condition for outside shots. So I took a chance and decided to do this post inside. I will probably do more in the future.  I just might have to do this again this weekend considering the fact that storms are in the forecast.

Outfit // Plaid

I highly recommend that if you have curly hair don't decide to straighten your hair on the most humid day of Spring. If you are lucky your hair will remain completely straight, if not it may turn into a frightening mess. Unfortunately I didn't follow this warning so I ended up with this. Next time I will check the humidity level first.

Photo Diary // One

Happy Mother's Day Guys! I know that Hazel is just a kitten and not an actual human baby, but for some reason taking care of her has made my maternal instinct kick into overdrive. I didn't really think I had it in me. I have never really pictured myself having kids in the future. Mainly because I am not married or even thinking about it at the time. Hazel has also helped me realize how much my own mother has cared for me. I am so thankful for what she has done for me and that she never gave up on me. She also supports me in everything I do and is also a big reader of this blog. So if you are reading this Mom, I just want to say thank you and I love you so much. I wouldn't be the woman that I am today without you!

So give your Moms a big hug and say thank you!
Have a great Mother's Day, lovelies!

Fashion Friends // Meet Stephanna

How would you describe your personal style?
I've been told, by others at least, that my style is a mix of hipster and vintage fashion. In my own opinion, I think my style is a combination of those, but also including street style, Parisian fashion, and a touch of bohemian here and there. I do like to jazz it up sometimes. After all, who really has a specific style these days?

Who/What inspires your style?
I take most of my style inspiration from websites like Pinterest. Seeing other people's style and outfit ensembles inspires me to create my own with personal touches.

What is your favorite clothing piece?
I do have a favorite cable knit sweater I purchased from Forever21, but since everyday can't be perfect sweater weather, I usually don't leave my house without a hat or a big purse. (whatever the weather!)
Who is your favorite fashion icon?
I have so many! Narrowing it down, I would have to say Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, & Clemence Poesy.

What inspired you to start a blog?
I've actually wanted to start a blog for a couple years now. I would find fashion blogs and become completely inspired by everyone's individuality, uniqueness, and style. I wanted a way to show the world fashion from my point of view. I wanted to be sure I could handle the responsibility of handling a blog, so I waited, purchased a laptop, did a bit more waiting, then finally created SBcouture.

Tell us three fun facts about you?
I've been a huge fan of superheroes for as long as I can remember! (nerdy, I know)
I'm a vegetarian, or to be more specific, a lacto-vegetarian.
I'm moving to California in about a month or two!
How long have you been blogging?
I have been blogging for about a month! It's a lot to get used to at first, but I think I'm starting to get into the swing of things.

What inspires your blog posts?
I have always been a little self-conscious, and I find myself taking more pictures of still life then I do of myself. I like my blog posts to have an air of artistic confidence, wether it's a picture of a succulent plant or a selfie. Art has always inspired my posts on social media in some way.

Who are your favorite fashion bloggers?
I have so many blogs that I admire. The first few blogs I was ever introduced to that I still love to check up on are Cristina Coradona's Trop Rouge and Bonnie Bartons's Flashes of Style.
Where is your favorite place to shoot photos?
Interestingly enough, I don't exactly have a favorite place to shoot. I travel a lot so when I find a brilliant looking spot, I have to stop and take pictures! Usually those areas happen to be city or downtown sceneries. I love the look of a skyscraper or a 4 story brick building.

Why is fashion and personal style important to you?
I have always liked the idea of dressing up (or down), but still looking incredibly fashionable while doing it. Style and fashion is one of the highest forms of art, and art is the best way to express yourself. Since I have never been very talkative and always a little bit shy, fashion is my way of displaying my personality. When I feel like I look my best, I am the most confident. When I dress to display my style, I do it for me, not necessarily to impress or outshine anyone. My personal style is important to me because I feel like I can be myself and let my personality shine!

Outfit // May Flowers

"April showers bring May flowers,
That is what they say.
But if all the showers turned to flowers,
We'd have quite a colorful day!

There'd be bluebells and cockleshells,
Tulips red and green,
Daffodils and Chinese quill,
The brightest you've ever seen.

You'd see tiger lilies and water lilies,
Carnations pink and blue,
Forget-me-not and small sundrop
Glistening the dew.

We'd have fireweed and milkweed
An many more different flowers.
Mexican star and shooting star,
Falling in the showers.
And if all the showers turned to flowers
On that rainy April day,
Would all the flowers turn to showers
In the sunny month of May?
