Last weekend two of my friends and I ventured to a local boutique called Box Turtle. It is a cute shop located in a beautiful neighborhood. It was a relaxing trip especially because it was the weekend before finals and it was nice to have a little break from studying. Plus spending time with friends is always more appealing than a date with a textbook. This boutique was originally a home that was built probably around the 50's or 60's by the look of the building. (the stairs were really creaky) The lighting in the store was pretty amazing because there are tons of windows to allow the natural light in. The overall ambiance and decor of the store is bohemian chic. The clothing in the store had a Free People, Urban Outfitters vibe. Also most of the clothing in the store are local or independent labels. Here are a few pictures of my visit to the Box Turtle!

Have you been to any cool shops lately?

I have a lot going on right now and I get stressed easily; I have been feeling really tired and frustrated lately. Sometimes it makes you want to quit or just give up and not try anymore. I know that is not the answer and it will only make matters worse. Whenever you feel stressed you have to continue on and conquer whatever is set before you. You also should find things to help you de-stress during times like these. Here a few list of things I think will help anyone de-stress.

1. Take a Time-Out: You don't necessarily have to take a nap or a siesta to get the benefits of a good rest. If you are at work or school, rest your forehead on your arms for a minute. I wouldn't suggest taking a nap, but take a little break. If you are in class continue to listen to the teacher but change your sitting position to allow your body to relax. Whatever you do just take a moment, breathe deeply, and relax.
2.Work-out: Working out is a great way to relieve the tension in your life. This doesn't mean sign up for an intensive boot camp program. Pace yourself! Find a moderately-intense program like running or walking. It will improve your mood and help you feel less stressed.
3. Listen to Music: Listening to soothing music can be very relaxing and calming. It can actually slow down an individuals breathing, heart rate, lower blood pressure, relax tense muscle and calm one's state of mind. I particularly like to listen to groovy tunes too! I takes your mind off what is stressing you out and adds a little fun and entertainment to your day! (I feel like another playlist is in the works...)
4. Watch Something funny: One of the best and entertaining ways to relieve stress is to laugh. You always feel better when you have had a good laugh. It is hard to think about the stresses of life while you are laughing. Watch a funny viral video on Youtube or watch a funny movie! Whatever you do just laugh! :)
5. Go Outside: Get some fresh air and let the sunlight hit your face. I guarantee you will feel much better. Instead of eating at the office go to a restaurant/cafe and eat on their outdoor patio. Sunlight can improve your mood and make you feel better. So go out and get some Vitamin D! :)
6. Drink Green Tea: Not only does green tea taste good but it contains theanine, an amino acid that promotes relaxation. But be careful, green tea stimulates the effects of caffeine. Avoid drinking other caffeinated beverages because caffeine can actually worsen the stress levels.

7. Spend Time with Friends: Spending time with friends is a great way to relax. Whether you're laughing and playing a board game or having a catch-up session over coffee. Spending time with friends can help you talk about your feelings, relax and overall feel less stressed.
8. Go for a Long Drive: If you love to drive, then going for a long drive can help you relax and feel more control in your life. Take the roads early in the morning or late at night when there is less traffic or people driving. This will make you feel calmer and empowered.
9. Read a Book: Reading is a fantastic way to relax, especially before bed. Try to shut of all the noise in an hour before bed and take the time to read something. Reading is also a great way to start your day and feel alert and ready!

Hope this was helpful!
Happy Earth Day, lovelies!

I cannot stress enough how much I love spring! Its going to be the best spring yet, I just know it! I am so excited about all the great things happening in the next few months. I only have a few weeks left until graduation, and I am going to see one of my favorite bands with my sister and a few friends! Right now life is awesome!
Here's a beautiful french poem about spring, I provided the english translation:

By Théophile Gautier

Look at the boughs,
How white they are,
It's snowing flowers!

Scoffing at the rain,
The sun dries
The weepy willow.

And the sky reflects
In the violets
Its pure colors...

The fly opens its wings
And the dragonfly
With the golden pupils,

And the wasp-like corset
Unfolding its silky wings,
Has resumed its flight.

The water happily babbles,
The tiny fish wriggles
It's Springtime again!

The french version is beautiful. Here's a link to the French Version:
Happy Wednesday!

I am all about planning and preparing before taking a deep plunge into something new and exciting, that you have never done before. But if you are too cautious and feel you have to have it perfect before stepping out in your goals and activities. You may never end up doing it. I had planned to start blogging years ago but I never actually started one. I thought that it had to be perfect before I started, but I just had to put that aside and just wing it. Here's a list of a few tasks that I think takes a lot of courage.

Select a few that appeal to you and make a point of completing them!

1. Make a New Friend: Take the initiative and make a new friend. Ask someone that you daily come across and seem to connect with to join you for a cup of coffee. Or take the time to reconnect with an old friend that you haven't seen in a long time. The other person is probably wanting to do the same thing, but was too nervous and will be honored that you made the first step.

2. Open an Online Store: If you like to sew, knit, paint, etc. sell your masterpieces online. You can use websites like Ebay or Etsy to sell items. Maybe you have a knack for finding hidden treasures at local thrift or vintage shops, sell them online and turn it into a profit to help fund future endeavors.

3. Start a blog or a YouTube channel: Do you have a neat fashion sense, photography skills, like making DIY's,  or cook? Then share your skills with others via internet. You will end up inspiring others and find a community of like-minded people.

4. Plan an event: Planning a huge event for a loved one takes a lot of responsibility and confidence. If you are someone that is very creative, organized, and works well under pressure. Then this is something you should consider. It is a great way to help a friend out and can also be very rewarding. Plus its really fun, especially if you like to lead projects.

5. Perform in front of a Crowd: Warm up your vocal chords, grab sheet music and practice your favorite song. Whatever your talent is find an opportunity to preform in front of a crowd and share your talent. It takes a lot of guts to conquer your nerves and preform for an audience, but it is really fun and will boost your confidence.

What is your list of things you want to do that takes courage? Would you do any of these things?

Happy Tuesday, lovelies!
xo Precious

I love shopping on Etsy and finding unique and interesting things. I have found some adorable shops recently-- Here are a few things that I have come across. I really love all of these items and I am putting them on my wish list.

Do you like looking for shops on Etsy?
Do you have any suggestions?

Have a great weekend, lovelies!

Something I have learned over the past few years is how much I enjoy being alone and having me time. Now don't get me wrong, I enjoy spending time with others. I guess you can say that I am comfortable, and have a really good relationship with myself... ha ha. Although, I have not always been this satisfied with my personality. I would compare myself to outgoing people all the time and wish that I were more like them. I hated feeling like the awkward person sitting in the corner, looking at their phone because I was too nervous to approach anyone and strike up a conversation.

I am an introvert to the upmost.  If I can choose a quiet evening at home with a small group of close friends (preferably 2-3) over a loud party with 20 or more people. I would choose the quiet evening with a few friends in a heartbeat. I find huge social gatherings exhausting and feel like they take a lot out of me. I am known for randomly slipping away from the crowd, finding a room or area with less people, to regain my composure.

This is something that took a long time to accept and I am still working through it.  I have finally grasped hold to the fact that this is who I am. I have learned to not care what people think and be comfortable in my own skin. I have met several people that have the same issue when it comes to social settings and some of them are my best friends. They accept me for who I am and I accept them. Sometimes we even joke about our awkwardness which has brought us closer together.

Having an evening by myself is my favorite part of the day, that's why I enjoy writing this blog so much. I have complete control over this blog and I can make it reflect my personality. I can show bits and pieces of who I am.  I can avoid the awkward introductions and the slow process of getting to know others; until I am comfortable enough to show them the quirky side of my personality.

Do you like time to yourself?
Are you an introvert and can you relate to me?
Happy Friday!
xo Precious!

MONDAY, MARCH 31, 2014

1. Go on a weekend trip: Even if you don't have the opportunity to take a full week off for vacation. Make the most of your free weekends by visiting a new city. Start now by putting money away so that you can splurge and have fun on a weekend getaway. Go to a museum, to a nice restaurant and have dinner, or see a show. Have fun, relax, and bring a friend along for the ride.
2. Enjoy the outdoors: Take advantage of the improving weather conditions and sit out on a balcony or a patio and read a book. Grab a friend or two and sit outside at your favorite restaurant or cafe. Or grab a blanket and a basket filled with yummies and go on a picnic with some besties or a special someone. (ohh la la!)
3. Try a new recipe: Find a recipe via Internet or cookbook and prepare it. (I tend to look for the quick and easy recipes). Impress your friends by preparing a new meal and inviting them over for a dinner party. Maybe even prepare the meal once before you have the dinner party to see if you even like the recipe and can prepare it well. Just to prevent things from going wrong the night of.
4. Find a new hobby: If there is something that has been on your "one day I want to learn to do.... such-n-such" list, but for some reason you have never done it. Make it a priority and give it a try this season. Learn to sew, join a book club, start scrapbooking, or learn a new song on that guitar you bought months ago sitting in the corner of your room collecting dust.
5. Experiment with your wardrobe: If you are someone like me that tends to gravitate toward neutral tone clothing then I suggest that you take a dive into some brighter tones. Even if you have to take baby steps, just do it. If you are the type of person who tends to shy away from patterns and bold prints then I suggest this season that you make a bold move and start adding patterns to your wardrobe. Liven up your closet with new pieces and give your personal style a face-lift! :)

Whatever you do make the most of the spring and enjoy ever moment of it!
Happy Monday!

SUNDAY, MARCH 30, 2014

The recent season change has made me reflect on how this year is going so far and how much my life has changed since last year. I did not enter this New Year with resolutions or goals for the year like some people tend to do. Mainly, because I knew I would break them and not fully commit. But I did have a guideline or a vision for how I would approach this year. So far I have already been living up to it. I am so excited for the things that are happening that I am aware of such as graduation, and starting my career path. I also have plans to travel, experience different cultures, be fluent in French, and move to a different state (preferably where its warmer, since I am always cold). I am so excited to see what this year has in store for me!

Photos from last year taken with my iphone 5!

I have made it through my first full month of blogging. This may not be a big deal to some people but it is a big deal to me. I have dreamed of starting my own blog for years but I never did because I was too scared. My first two years of college I spent countless hours reading personal style, fashion and lifestyle blogs written by veteran bloggers. I would desire to start my own but I never had the guts to do it until this year. At the beginning of this year I just decided to put on my big girl pants and do it. (or big girl skirt since I basically wear skirts and dresses everyday... ha ha)

So far it has been a month of blogging and I love it! It is so much fun and I have had lots of support, which has encouraged me to continue. To be honest blogging has been getting me into trouble when it comes to my studying habits. I much rather plan and work on my next blog post than study for my next exam. Oops!  Well at least I only have one month of college left and then I am done forever!  Woo hoo!

Also thank you to anyone who has been following my blog!
I really appreciate it!
